My strawberry plants are finally stopping flowering this season. Maybe some of the leaves are giving up the ghost. Thought this half alive half dead leaf was a great photo to take.
Forecast for high temperatures, gale force winds and a cold front to come through today. Think it has arrived.
Earlier this afternoon, I heard a loud noise coming from the airport and something flying directly over my house. Looked out the door and saw smoke everywhere. Checked out website fires Tasmania and saw one had started near Sandford about 10 minute drive away from me. Can see the helicopters water bombing in front of the flames.
Being retired, I can now attend some lunchtime talks. Today was about scrimshaw and I took along a pair of whale teeth my father had been given by his foster father who was a friend of his mother. We don’t know the history of the teeth but they might have been handed down from my great great grandfather who was a whaler in the 1870’s and 1880’s.
Noticed the weeds have started growing again near my raised vegetable beds. Need to get out there on a cool day and start pulling them. Doesn’t take much though, with all the pebbles and weed mat underneath it all.
Lots of choice to either heat or cool the room in my motel in Launceston. Think it might be cooling as still over 20 Celsius at the moment.
Am in Devonport for one night ready to run a refresher course for blogging with some teachers tomorrow. Just saw the Abel Tasman, nah Spirit of Tasmania, ferry arriving from Melbourne.
Was out watering the strawberries this morning, when suddenly this little insect jumped from one leaf to another. Anyone know what it is? Praying mantis, grasshopper??
About five years ago, I bought a treadmill to use for exercise. It was in June when Tour de France was on TV, but now I also use it when Tour Downunder is on during our summer holidays. I only walk at 4km per hour nothing like the cyclists.
Took photo of grapevine area, then used the app grungetastic to add the effect. Trying out different apps is quite interesting.
