using my camera more often
You have seen many of the feathered visitors to my house. Just this week, this set of birds have arrived. They are called noisy miners because of the noise they make when in trees. Check out the wikipedia link to hear their bird calls.
Five Mile Beach is not very far from where I live. We used to come here for picnics and barbecues.
Today the staff and students are back at school. But I have retired, so decided to go for a drive instead of going to school. This is going to take some getting used to. Went past Government House in Hobart.
Another famous Aussie bird is the galah, pink and grey in colour. At this time of year, they are often seen in pairs preeening each other while hunkered down on a wire.
“Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree” is a great song I learnt in Girl Guides. From the link, we used to sing only the first verse as a round. Also the last line didn’t quite sound the same as it is on the link. Sorry this image is a bit dark.
The next few posts are going to show you my feathered neighbours. You have already seen the magpies that often wake me early in the morning. But there are other visitors to my garden as well.
These sulphur crested cockatoos are very raucous when they fly away from the trees they are perched in.
Here I was prepared for hordes of people to arrive. But throughout the day, there were only about 15 visitors to my stall, despite putting an ad in the local paper. Maybe people are not reading as many books now that they can read online.
Some of the teachers can’t come to the stall tomorrow as they are going away with families for the long weekend. Instead they are coming to my house today. This is what it will look like for them to browse through the boxes.
This time the magpie is preening on the neighbour’s fence.
Lots of different birds at my place – sort of live in the country area with an inside block so not lots of traffic. This little magpie is scrounging for food beneath my undercover clothesline where the swallows often perch – hence the bird droppings.
Recently had some branches from my flowering gum lopped. Naturally many gumnuts fell to the ground. Will have to tell the art teacher at school who I am sure would love them for her lessons.
Well my old camera was starting to cause me problems like not focussing and zooming properly. So I headed to Officeworks and bought a new one. Testing out the zoom function on this grape leaf. Can you see the water drops?
