Was such a nice day today, no clouds in the sky, so I decided to go for a drive up Mount Wellington which is the picturesque backdrop for Hobart, Tasmania’s capital city. Tasman Bridge on the far left going over the Derwent River. Centre of image, you can just see outline of Seven Mile Beach near where I live.

My mum is an avid knitter. She creates over 350 bears each year and puts them in the Samaritan’s Purse Christmas appeal where shoe boxes are packed with toys, school items, hygiene and other goods. I’ll often get some school items and help pay for the postage.

Thought I would introduce you to my parents who were at the barbecue yesterday. SnowyBob had done a bike ride, while mum (Phyl) had organized the cooking.

Every year, my parents organize a barbecue at the Girl Guide Camp for the bike riders and easy walkers in the Hobart Walking Club. One rider I noticed today also had great glasses.

One of the great trees found here in Australia is an acacia. They have seeds in pods like peas.

What a great idea on a hot day! Kayak, canoe, slalom- get out on the water and paddle around visiting some of the local places on the foreshore.

I have just finished mowing my lawns. The problem is there are so many daisy plants growing in them rather than actual lawn. I am going to have to get rid of these fly away seeds before it spreads to one lawn that is, so far, daisy free.

Here in Australia we have a tree called a native cherry. It bears a small fruit, but unlike a normal cherry tree this one has the pip on the outside of the fleshy fruit.

Went bush bashing today with Snowy Bob, my father, up into Stringy Bark Gully which was used by the RAAF as a Replenishing Centre No 8 at Redgate in Tasmania. This is a photo of what remains of the Pyrotechnic Store, Building No 4.

My parents have a great native Australian plant garden, so when I visited the other day for lunch, I took a few photos of the paper daisies.

Went to lunch today at my parents’ place. Mum’s sister Margaret was also there as was my niece Georgia. Dad (SnowyBob) doesn’t particularly like roast meals, so when mum wants one, we all get an invite. This is what remained of a home made Christmas pudding by the time we had all had a slice. These are made and cooked in a cloth then boiled in a saucepan.
