49/366 Camouflage

This little parrot is so well hidden in the flowering gum. These are extremely noisy but they blend in so well and without a zoom lens are often hard to find. On a calm day, you see the branches move, hear their calls and can pinpoint them but still with difficulty.

43/366 My feathered neighbours

The next few posts are going to show you my feathered neighbours. You have already seen the magpies that often wake me early in the morning. But there are other visitors to my garden as well.

These sulphur crested cockatoos are very raucous when they fly away from the trees they are perched in.

39/366 Scrounging

Lots of different birds at my place – sort of live in the country area with an inside block so not lots of traffic. This little magpie is scrounging for food beneath my undercover clothesline where the swallows often perch – hence the bird droppings.

11/366 So near yet so far

Today squirrel and I were on a bus trip heading to Maria Island on the east coast of Tasmania. Thought this would be a chance for squirrel to start seeing further afield in Tasmania. But alas, the weather was too bad to cross from Triabunna to Maria Island.  Instead we went on a cruise around the more sheltered bays and saw some beautiful beaches like  Shelley, Stapleton and Spring Beaches.

On the way home, we visited an Australian Bush Garden created in an old disused quarry by 12 members of the Australian Plants Group, Tasmanian Division. Here squirrel saw some of our native plants and animals such as frogs and a wedge tailed eagle.

A little bit of rain and what do I see?

Snails, everywhere. On the paths, in the grass, slimy tracks on the plant pots.

Finally these chewing on the coffee cup in my garden.

What other animals do you see in your garden after a slight rain?

Cleaning up after your animals

horse owners

Wednesday, 19 January 2011

I thought we were supposed to clean up during Spring yet here in Australia where it is summer, many bloggers are ‘Spring cleaning’ their pages as part of the activities in the teacher challenges. As you many have noticed in my previous images, I am trying to clean my office (very slow job … lol).

So why is it, that horse owners can’t clean up after their animals especially in a parking area?

Do you have any stories to tell about owners cleaning up after their animals or not?
