X – Xanthorroea and xylocopa species

These plants are commonly called grass trees. They are endemic to Australia. Here is a great post by Bush Heritage about grass tree species.

I don’t have a photo of this insect. But have found an ABC radio interview about the carpenter bees. There is also a page showing lots of images but I was not sure if any were free to use in my blog.
